The Fuego is a Renault car that was in production for 12 years, from 1980 to 1992. It was also the first car to have a remote keyless entry system, the first car with remote audio controls on the steering wheel, and in 1982, their turbo diesel version was the “fastest diesel car in the world”, with a top speed of 110mph. Renault had banked on this car being popular in the US, to turn around their fortunes in America, but it was not. Renault had planned on creating a Fuego II to replace it, but their financial situation didn’t allow for it, and there was no direct replacement after the car was discontinued.
