Cadillac Allante was supposedly a car to matchup the standing of the renowned Mercedes Benz SL during the late 1980s. However, things have turned out under Cadillac’s expectations as Allante went as a commercial failure. From 1987 to 1993, the manufacturer was able to sell out less than 5,000 units every year. But of course, no one could be blamed other than the poor performance the car model had offered to the automotive market. Cadillac Allante is a front wheel car powered by only 170 horsepower engine while weighing 3600 pounds, making it run less faster than Mercedes. It was also criticized for a whole lot of quality issues including its leaky convertible tap and expensive anti-lock brakes. The press has even remarked Cadillac as being “all show, no go” at that time.
